Richmond Hill Curling Club (RHCC) is recruiting participants for its ‘Learn to Curl’ program for adults who are new to curling. The first lesson starts on Saturday, October 17.
Learn to Curl is a regular introductory course for adult beginners aged 18 and over. Participants take five lessons of about two hours each, once a week, and learn step by step, from basic skills and game etiquette to delivery (throwing) form and game strategy. With few students per instructor, participants can improve quickly, and there are plenty of chances to play real games even during the lesson period.
After finishing the five lessons, participants can join a regular club league at no extra cost until the season ends in April 2027. Richmond Hill Curling Club runs several leagues on different days from Monday to Sunday, and participants choose one that fits their schedule and play real games every week. The program’s biggest advantage is that participants can use the skills they learned in lessons in games all season long, so it does not end as a short taster: they can naturally keep enjoying curling as club members. The club provides the equipment, so all you need is comfortable, stretchy clothing and a clean pair of athletic shoes used only for curling.
“Curling is a winter sport that anyone can enjoy, regardless of age or fitness,” said Seungho Bang, President of the Korean Canadian Curling Federation. “I hope this Learn to Curl program will be an opportunity for Korean Canadians to learn curling properly and naturally join local club leagues.”
Also on the same day, October 17, a free curling experience event for children and youth aged 7 to 16 (Try Curling Youth Open House) will be held.
